M1 Challenge – Have a Bad Ass Summer

Once we set our minds to something, we get it done! From a lofty idea about having as bad-ass a summer anyone could have on 2 wheels, to a full-blown community effort to meet a challenge – the M1 Challenge was our way of inspiring people to have fun together.

It started with a few of our friends wanting to get their M1 license. Putting a spark to that fire, Pierre got those friends to get their friends and family to go out and get this challenge done! So it began… dates were set for July 15th through to the 18th, 2009 and the excitement started to spread.

In the free time we had between professional responsibilities, client projects, and chaotic lifestyles, we created www.M1Challenge.ca along with posters and cards, all within 21 days from the night the idea came to us. With these essentials (and a bare-bones team) we went full force through our fair city… and the feedback was tremendous.

We did this all to create a sense of urgency for those friends of ours that wanted to be bad-asses with M1 licenses. We wanted them to have a reason to say no to putting-it-off and feel a sense of support from their fellow riders. The feedback for the M1 Challenge project exceeded what we could have asked for. excited about spreading the idea, we got friends, family, and total strangers that we can now call friends, to sign-up and participate in something that brought us all closer.

…And it isn’t hard to tell our hard work paid off because we all had an amazing time. From the bikers that stopped at the lights beside us asking for M1 Challenge cards to give out, to the pretty girls that all rushed up to see pictures of Pierre on his scooter, the summer of 2009 will forever be remembered by us as The Badass Summer: we set our minds to make a dream real and we got it done in a big way.
