Between accusations of being the biggest North American drug dealer and being exalted as Canada’s ballsiest political activist, Marc Emery also juggles being the Prince of Pot. Oh, and don’t let me forget to mention that he’s being extradited to the US for online seed selling, and activism for the legalization of marijuana. So when we heard the news that Marc’s Farewell Tour was coming to Toronto, we knew we couldn’t choke on the opportunity to do this event its due justice… and according to many, ours may have been the only justice done amidst this controversy.
You would know it from the grin on his face that Marc has the energy and charisma to move a crowd and stir their emotions. To accommodate the tour, we created www.DopeChef.com which featured the event information, detailing the context of Marc’s activism and extradition in hopes of inspiring the community to actively participate.
Our team worked closely with investors and Vapour Central’s management to secure the venue. A week of strategically designed media such as posters and online networking generated such a buzz the tickets to the event were completely sold out and the venue reached maximum capacity moments into Marc’s Farewell.
We succeeded not only at organizing a sold out event whilst marketing the M1 challenge, but our team and all those participating had an amazing time! Our video production crew especially agreed that, for all the amazing footage and opportunities that presented themselves from this event, the energy and effort invested was more than justified. The pleasure of organizing and emceeing the event was second to that of listening to Marc Emery speak, and knowing that Toronto was listening. Coverage of the event from media outlets like Now Magazine, The Toronto Star, and CityTV ensured that the cause Marc’s been fighting for received the exposure it deserved.
