The search engine company intends to compete directly with Apple’s iphone and RIM’s BlackBerry. Did you know there are currently more mobile devices in use than computers? Look at these staggering numbers:
* Mobile devices: 3.8 billion
* Computers: 1.1 billion
* Mobile subscribers: 3.3 billion
* Mobile Internet subscriptions: 0.6 billion
A growing number of consumers are accessing the web on their mobile device. They do not own a computer, but remain social media savvy. How important is the mobile advertising market? Consider this. Apple bought Quattro Wireless – a mobile advertising network – for $275 million. A bidding war between Google and Apple over Admob – another mobile advertising network – resulted in Google paying $750 million for Admob. Clearly both companies are preparing for a bright mobile advertising future. The marketplace numbers do not lie!
