3 Cool Movies this June

The Karate Kid (yes, the remake)
The only thing cooler than Karate is Kung-Fu. After watching thousands of hours of Kung-Fu movies (no exaggeration) with my dad, I’ve mastered the skill of recognizing the tenants of a good Kung-Fu movie. This movie has them all, and Jaden Smith whom I’m a big fan-boy of.
- No-skilled foreigner gets his ass whooped
- Training scenes that’ll make you burn calories just watching
- Chopsticks
- Old master with unconventional wisdom
- Final fight scene = redemption

Shrek 3 – Shrek Forever After
Loved it! Without a doubt, Shrek Forever After is one of the best movies this summer. It’s fun for the kids and intelligently deep for a more mature audience. Shrek finds himself in an alternate universe, very much like George Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life (1946), but unlike George, going back to his own reality becomes an adventure that Shrek may never get to realize. Even if you have a heart made of coal, this movie will make your eyes sweat worse than that time you found yourself at the Onion & Garlic convention.

Splice
This movie is spliced into 48 percent sci-fi, 27 percent horror, 21 percent Freudian tutorials and 4 percent comedy. If your biological tolerance for ‘ew’ is high, and your mentally capable to appreciate artistic Freudian references without looking at your daddy differently, this movie may be your perfect escape to a freak universe.
