Global Marijuana March - Freedom Festival 2010
May 2009 to May 2010. Freedom Festival to Freedom Festival
This time last year Pixel Dreams moved into our first studio. Also around this time, we were inspired to start M1 Challenge - the first event under our Pixel Dreams umbrella. The idea came to us while brainstorming ideas for our community, sitting at Vapor Central (VC) after an eventful Freedom march through Queens Park and the rest of Toronto's lovely Yongesterdam. A year later, we are back at the same spot discussing politics and the future with Marc and Jodie Emery, Chris Goodwin, Matt Mernagh and a few other good friends who frequent the friendly neighbourhood pot lounge.
It has been truly an amazing year since our last Freedom Festival. Our company has moved several times, organized a couple of community events, found awesome clients, and have had the privilege to work on some very interesting and challenging projects. Speaking of which, we look forward to the launch of eatsleepride.com this summer.

Google Chrome Universal Translator! Another Star Trek Vision Realized
It's no secret that we here at Pixel Dreams HQ love to watch Star Trek. From time to time, we debate the political motives of the Romulan Empire and whether Klingons could ever be suitable babysitters. We take extra joy and comfort when seeing the realization of Star Trek ideas and visions. I can't help but smile in glee when Google Chrome asks me if I'd like the page I'm on to be translated, and further more, asks me what language. Who needs the Klingon Language Institute?!

Did Gizmodo Editor Jason Chen Traffic In Stolen Goods?
That's the question at the heart of a recent police action involving an iphone prototype Gizmodo acquired for five grand, took apart and posted photos of. By now you've heard the story of an Apple engineer who left his still in development iphone G4 at a Redwood, CA bar. No that's not a punchline or start of a mobile phone joke. Instead of using beta development technology to magically have the phone walk back to Apple labs, the corporation had charges pressed against Gizmodo editor Jason Chen. Police used a warrant to storm Chen's home and take a slew of computer equipment not related to a stolen iphone.

The Slow Web Developer
Time is on my side. Yes it is. Sang Mick Jagger.
It's okay to take your time and let your website evolve slowly. When it comes to web development we often think that time isn't on our side. We expect or demand immediate action. Racing to what we believe is the next big thing. Then if that doesn't work (often with no benchmark set to determine success or failure), we the race to the next potential big idea.

Our Team Blinded By Great Food
The Pixel Dreams team went on a dining and team building adventure Apr. 15 to O.Noir. A sensory deprivation restaurant requiring serious concentration just to engage in the simple act of eating. Why were Pixel Dreams team members having such difficult time eating a meal outside the confines of our lunch room? Well, O.Noir's fascinating marketing campaign is to provide their patrons with a sensation of blindness.
"This socially conscious concept sprang from Jorge Spielmann, a blind pastor in Zurich who used to blindfold his dinner guests at his home so they could share his eating experience. In 1999, Spielmann opened Blindekuh (German for Blind Cow); a project aimed at teaching the sighted about the sightless world, and provide jobs for blind people." - onoir.com
