Marc Emery World Wide Rally - Saturday, May 22 - 2010
When word surfaced about a worldwide Marc Emery rally, the Pixel Dreams Team immediately gathered our troops to assist in and cover the event. Within 48 hours we successfully designed and printed 5,000 postcards, a website collecting data, and created an affective social media presence. Cards and posters were distributed by different street teams; word quickly spread online and offline. Pixel Dreams also covered the occupation of Conservative Party, Peter Kent's office. Days prior to the event, team members volunteered to create an awareness-raising YouTube video, with a focus on Toronto and Vancouver. Within the first day, the video received over 1,100 unique views. Viewership doubled the next day and kept growing steadily until the rally. Over 60 cities around the world joined us on May 22, 2010 rallying in support of Marc Emery and his illegal extradition to the United States as a political activist.
Marc Emery is a prominent Canadian activist well-known for his fearless leadership in fighting Marijuana prohibition. A hero to many, he has greatly helped the cause for legal medical Marijuana in Canada, which has helped thousands who suffer from AIDs, Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Arthritis, Glaucoma, Epilepsy and Depression to name a few. Also thanks to Emery's vocal activism, Canadians have the right to enjoy cannabis related publications, hemp stores, cafes, and events such as the annual Toronto Freedom Festival - a part of the annual Global Marijuana March. Every Freedom Festival, Marc and his politically savvy and activist wife, Jodie Emery lead march followed by thousands of Torontonians.
